Unit Notes
- Unit: Surgical Services Elmore Hospital - OR TECH
- # of Suites: 2- only 1 room running at a time. Will also work in Preop and PACU.
- Average # of cases per day: Mondays and Wednesdays Wed mainly colonoscopies and endo- around 4 cases, Tuesday is GYN 3-4
cases, Thursday-no cases unless emergent, and Friday around 5 cases.
- Required Certifications: BLS, NBSTSA certification
- Common Cases: Choles, appys, hernia repairs, abdominal hysterectomies, hysteroscopies, D&C, colonoscopies, endoscopies, C-
sections.
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: Must have 3 years experience.
- Is there a manager/Charge Nurse on each shift: No Charge- ANM oversees surgical services.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 4- 9 hour shifts, we do not do surgeries on Thursday-travelers do not work Thursdays. Start time is 0700 if
surgeries are scheduled. If no surgeries are scheduled will give an estimated start time and leave time. Assignments for where they will
be working Preop, PACU, or OR will be made 1 week ahead. Do have an expectation of all staff to be there no matter if there are cases
or not, if no cases will be check expirations, some offer to go to ER to help task and start IVs. Everyone stays until the last PACU is
gone.
- Weeknight/Call Requirements: Yes- would cover call if needed end of shift to 0700 next day. Will be expected to be on shift at 0700 if
called in night prior if there are scheduled cases but would let them go home after scheduled cases. Around 14 days of call (weeknight
and weekend) per month.
- Weekend/Call Requirements: Yes- will cover 24 hour call if needed.
- Holiday/Call Requirements : Yes- will cover 24 hour call if needed.
- What is call response time: 30 minutes
- Floating Requirements: Can float to Preop and PACU to help out.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Provided Surgical scrubs
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation: 1 to 2 days
- Additional Notes: Very small team everyone works together, expect everyone to help out. Very slow paced except on Fridays, a lot
of down time. Can be difficult to find housing- no onsite housing is available but there are plenty of RV sites. Closes place with lots
of housing is Boise.
**This facility has a radius rule of 50 miles. To ensure adherence to this rule, we will require the candidates' perm address in the submittal to confirm they are outside of that specified radius before proceeding with the profile review.**
