Surgical Services / CVOR – Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Certified Surgical First Assistant to support cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) procedures and complex surgical cases. The CSFA will work closely with surgeons and the surgical team to provide direct intraoperative assistance, ensure patient safety, and contribute to efficient, high-quality surgical outcomes in a fast-paced surgical services environment.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct first-assist support to surgeons during cardiovascular and open-heart surgical procedures.
Prepare the operating room, instruments, and sterile field according to surgical requirements.
Assist with surgical exposure, hemostasis, suturing, and tissue handling throughout procedures.
Anticipate surgeon needs and respond promptly to intraoperative changes.
Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and infection control standards.
Support patient positioning, draping, and surgical site preparation.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical technologists to ensure smooth case flow.
Document surgical assistance activities accurately and in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
Current Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification required.
Active and unrestricted licensure or certification as required by state regulations.
Experience in CVOR, cardiovascular, or open-heart surgical procedures strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of surgical anatomy, instrumentation, and operative techniques.
Excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and ability to perform under pressure.
Strong communication and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary surgical team.
Ability to work effectively in a high-acuity, fast-paced surgical environment.
Pay Rate
$73.10 - $77.98/hour
