Department: OR | SPT
*Required Certifications: IAHCSMM or CBSPD.*
- Required Certifications: IAHCSMM or CBSPD.
- Common Cases: Cover all specialties - General OR, Cath Lab, OR outpatient, pain services/ wound vacs, GI/ endo, scopes.
- Experience: SPM tracking, and Endoscope Reprocessing, understanding of surgical instruments. Minimum 1 year of
experience in SPD. First time okay for travelers.
- Duties: Work with: surgical instruments, ventilators, and portable patient equipment, crash carts, intubation boxes, flexible
endoscopes, vents, pumps (clean and disinfection), and OR equipment, scopes for TEE high level disinfection. Duties:
Decon and cleaning: manually and mechanically, some disinfection, prepping/packaging as well as assembly, instrument
counts and construction, packaging- they are the final person before sterilization. (Perm staff do Sterilization). Working in
Sterile storage and will do deliveries to various floors and clinics.
- Common equipment to disinfect/common supplies to sterilize: Endoscope reprocessing (using AER- endo reprocessor/
Medi Vida), washers and steam sterilizer with high and low temperatures). Equipment: Sterrad- Sterrad NX, Sterrad 100S,
Sterrad 100NX ), Ozone, Ultrasonic cleaners. Tracking system is SPM.
- Manager/Lead Tech: Manager/ supervisor depending on the shift. Overnight shifts- if supervisor not available after
midnight, there is a lead tech.
- Shifts & Scheduling: Not Self scheduling, manager to make schedule. Shifts 7a-330p, 3p-1130p, 11p-7a. Prefer someone
open to all shifts, but will only work the same recurring shift time.
- Weeknight/Call Requirements: None have 24/7 coverage.
- Weekend/Call Requirements: Shift dependent, maybe 1 shift a month or every other month.
- Holiday/Call Requirements: No Holidays
- What is call response time?: N/A
- Floating Requirements: Only to deliver supplies to various departments.
- Scrub Color: Surgical scrubs provided by hospital.
