Job Description:
Prepare the Operating Room:
Set up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and sterile solutions.
Ensure equipment is working properly and positioned for use.
Ensure the operating room is fully stocked with necessary supplies.
Assist During Surgery:
Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon and surgical assistants during surgery.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to facilitate the procedure.
Maintain the sterile field and ensure no contamination during surgery.
Preoperative Duties:
Prepare patients for surgery by cleansing and disinfecting incision sites.
Assist with patient positioning and draping to maintain sterility.
Postoperative Duties:
Help clean and restock the operating room after surgery.
Assist in transporting patients to the recovery room.
Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize instruments.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate surgical counts of sponges, needles, and instruments to prevent retained surgical items.
Document patient information, equipment used, and procedure details as needed.
Equipment Handling:
Operate and maintain surgical equipment, such as lights, suction machines, and sterilization tools.
Assist with the preparation of robotic surgical equipment if necessary.
Patient Care Support:
Monitor vital signs and provide assistance to the surgical team in emergencies.
Assist anesthesia personnel as needed.
