Department: MedSurg | RN
Must review location and get written notice housing has been researched - think ski resort town!!
- Unit: MedSurg - Floor 2
- # of Beds: 19 (2 rooms overlfow critical care- if deteriorate will use norepi or levo with administrative supervisor).
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: Acuity based tool, avg census is 9- fluctuates 1:5 max for MS and M-F 4 RNs usually on per shift.
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Peds and Adult MS unit (ages 0-100 ): post op orthopedic, skii trauma, fractures, total
joints: hips knees and shoulders, GYN surgical- hysterectomies, vapother, high flow, ccovid, SBO, chest tubes, surgical drains,
wound experience, tele.
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: 2 years of experience, ortho- totals, post ops/ general idea. RN should have MS and Pediatric MS
experience, and strong skillset. RN to mix some medications.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips: Yes.
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, set rate Cardizem and Amio, initiate pressors for critical patients prior to transfer.
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift?: 1 of the 3 would be a charge, usually no patient assignment, can take 2-3 patient
assignment depending on the need.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit: 1-2 CNA on days, 1 on nights. Virtual care team for each room- admission and
discharges and tele ICU capability.
- RT Equipment: Vent if need to stabilize and ship, vapother Cpap, Bipap and etc.
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit: RN to read an interpret tele, techs assist only, RN are responsible for rhythm recognition
and changes, measuring strips. Monitor at RN statio, and can measure stip off that.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 7-7, Self scheduling with core staff.
- Weekend Requirement: Equitably distributed with core staff.
- Holiday Requirement: Equitably distributed with core staff.
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement: Twice in any one contract.
- Floating Requirements: Helping hands or safety attendant, not picking up shifts in other departments, must be comfortable with
floating- tasking time to time, want it to be done safely.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided: Any color scrubs,
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation: 2 shifts on the unit.
**This facility has a radius rule of 50 miles. To ensure adherence to this rule, we will require the candidates' perm address in the submittal to confirm they are outside of that specified radius before proceeding with the profile review.**
