EPIC EXP 100% REQUIRED
2 YEARS OF NICU EXP FIRM
Level of NICU: 2
# of beds: 20 12
Ratios: 1:1-3 depending on acuity and staffing
Required Certifications: NRP, BLS
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Extremely premature/premature patients, BPD, HIE, feeding intolerance, respiratory support, sepsis/meningitis, NOWS/ESC, Hyperbilirubinemia
Experience or 'Must have' skills: Ability to care for gestations down to 32 weeks or greater than 1500 grams, NC, HFNC, CPAP, NAVA, conventional vent equipment, use of feeding pumps
Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: BP drugs, TPN/D10, Insulin
Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Both
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: No
Neonatologist in house 24/7?: Neonatologist – no ARNP/PA yes
RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): HFOV, HFJV, Conventional vent, CPAP, HFNC, NC
Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips?: Yes, nurses read strips
Shifts & Scheduling: 3-12s per week – 4 week schedules
Weekend Requirement: Can be every weekend
Holiday Requirement: Possible - individualized to contract dependent on scheduling need
Is there a call or standby requirement?: If not needed, will be put on standby
Floating Requirements: Can float to peds to care for NICU grads, any patient until 12 months of age or be a 1:1 sitter for a behavioral health patient PP to help with well baby
Scrub Color/Dress Code: Royal Blue
Unit/Departments specific orientation: 1-2 shifts of orientation
