NEW 10 BED UNIT for Regional Admissions

Local Candidate rule: *100-mile radius rule* Travelers perm address must be 101 Miles from facility to be considered.

Candidates must have experience in a hospital of similar size and acuity
Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years experience and successful completion of at least 1 travel contract.

Unit St. Joseph’s Hospital Med/Tele

- # Beds: 10
- Nurse Patient Ratios: 1:4 or sometimes 1:5
- Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): BLS, ACLS
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients s/p Regional admission unit for med/tele patients
- Experience or 'Must have' skills:
- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Limited (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone)
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes - Charge RN at night – does not usually take a patient assignment. Yes – House Supervisor at night
- Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes – 1:10
- RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Nasal cannuals, BiPap, High Flow NC. No vents.
- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Yes – there are Monitor Techs on the unit. No – the Monitor Tech reads the strips. However, the RNs are expected to be able to interpret rhythms
- Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): Yes to self-scheduling – However, shifts are moved when needed for staffing (in accordance with RTO) Block scheduling is allowed.
- Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend requirement
- Holiday Requirements: Yes – unless approved RTO
- Is there call or a standby requirement?: No call or standby requirement.
- Floating Requirements: Rare float to Neurosurgical PCU (same ratios)
- Scrub Color/Dress code: Navy scrubs
- Unit/Department specific orientation: One day computer skills with basic
