Department: ER | RN
*Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NALS, TNCC. CSSR-Certification on how to assess. This is something that can be obtained on line through "The Columbia Lighthouse Project"*
- Trauma Level: No trauma - we ship out STEMI/Stroke.
- # Beds/Trauma Bays: 5
- Do you have a Fast Track: No
- Do you have a separate Triage area: No
- Do you have a separate holding area in the ER: No holds
- Do you have separate Psych/seclusion rooms: No
- Is Security in-house 24/7: No security.
- On average, how many patients do you treat in the ER/day: 15-20 per day.
- Nurse: Patient Ratios: One RN and one CNA.
- Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NALS, TNCC. CSSR-Certification on how to assess. This is
something that can be obtained on line through "The Columbia Lighthouse Project".
- Common diagnoses: GI, cardiac, Pediatric injury/ illness, influenza/COVID, psych- young population of SI- those
are shipped. They transfer out many patients.
- Experience: Must have ED/MedSurg experience to float between the two.
- Common Drips: Heparin, Dopamine, all cardiac drips.
- ED Physician: Physician in ED at all times.
- Charge Nurse: No charge in ED.
- Nurse aids: One CNA.
- Is RT in the ER 24/7: RT on call to ED. RT manages vents, ABGs. Nurses do neb tx.
- RT Equipment: No
- Do you have Monitor Techs in the ER: No
- X-Ray or CT in the ER: No transport. CT/Xray next to ED.
- Does Phlebotomy draw labs or RN's draw: RN's draw stats, lab draws timed.
- Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hour shifts 0645-715. Have a scheduler. They try to accommodate requests. May be
filling in holes. Schedule is out 4 weeks at a time.
- Weekend Requirements: Yes - as the needs arise.
- Holiday Requirements: Yes - so the needs of the unit are met.
- Is there call or a standby requirement: No
- Floating Requirements: Yes - will be required to float to MS.
- Scrub Color: None, hospital grade uniforms.
- Department Specific Orientation: Yes one day paperwork and computer work. Two days orientation on the floor.
