Department: Chemo/Infusion | RN
*Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, Biotherapy certification- Not ONCC or ONS.*

- # beds/Chairs: 10 chemo chairs, 6 infusion/Iron chairs.
- Average # of patients/day: 30-35 iron infusions per day (1 about every 30 minutes), 12-19 chemo infusions per day.
- Nurse: Patient Ratios: 6 RNs on at a time. 4 to be Chemo certified. 2 do not need to be certified (will do Iron and other
infusions). RNs average 6 patients throughout the day.
- Required Certifications: BLS ACLS. Biotherapy certification- Not ONCC or ONS.
- Common diagnosis: Cancer, rheumatology, immune disease conditions, hydration, CKD, etc.
- Experience: Chemotherapy infusion experience, at least 1 year. IV starts, central line dressing changes & accessing.
On time- punctuality. Open to first time travelers.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips?: None
- Common infusions: Chemotherapy, blood products, iron, hydration, biologics, GI, Rheumatology infusions, & the rest is
various infusions.
- Job duties: IV starts, accessing central lines, central line dressing changes, infusions, therapeutic phlebotomy (blood letting).
Lab draws- central lines, PCT and lab to assist as well.
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift?: Charge Nurse- does take a full assignment (trying to get him to take less).
- Patient care techs on this unit: PCT to do patient intake, VS and phlebotomy assist, among other PCT general duties.
- EMR: AllScripts
- Shifts & Scheduling: 10 hour shifts. 8a-630p 4 days a week, self schedule the one day off and manager to balance.
- Weekend Requirement: None

- Is there a call or standby requirement?: None
- Floating Requirements: None
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
- Unit/department specific orientation: General facility orientation, and 2 weeks with the educator/ preceptors, and
ongoing education to new drugs/reps that come in. Notes and education charting, and pharmacist- in clinic they come
to education.
