Position Summary:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse provides advanced medical care to premature or fragile infants. They work closely with other Neonatal Nurses and Physicians to ensure that infants receive the care they need to improve in health and go home to their families. Their job is to assess newborns right after their birth, participate in potentially life-saving procedures and operate medical equipment like a continuous positive airway pressure to help newborns breathe.
Please note: All hours logged as Charge will be paid at the applicable Charge pay bump rate
It’s common for travelers to float to other units based on their skill sets
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing round-the-clock care to premature and severely ill newborn infants.
- Caring for the basic needs of infants; for example, feeding and changing diapers.
- Performing medical procedures; for example, inserting intravenous lines, performing tests, and administering medications.
- Assisting the NICU physicians in medical procedures and treatments.
- Using and adjusting specialized medical equipment.
- Formulating nursing plans and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments.
- Comforting ill newborns and anxious parents and family members.
- Offering support to parents and family members and educating them on the at-home care of their newborn.
- OR State RN license in hand
- BLS (AHA) Certification
- 2 years of RN ICU experience
- Level 3 or 4 NICU skills.
- NICU Charge RN and Delivery/Resuscitation experience
- Must have a vehicle for this assignment!
Pay Rate
$62.27 - $65.47/hour
