EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High school graduate or equivalent
Graduate of approved radiology technology program
American Registered Radiology Technologist (ARRT) certified
Current Iowa permit to practice
Certification and/or training in Mammography, CT, and Ultrasound preferred but not required
Healthcare Provider BLS certification
Mandatory Abuse Reporter certification within 6 months of hire
Strong verbal and interpersonal skills
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English well.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB
Performs radiographic procedures to assist in a diagnosis of diseases and injuries. Works effectively with patients and patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with physicians, as well as other interdepartmental personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ability to maintain confidentiality; and both a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers, patients, and visitors, and satisfactory job performance despite the stress of a hospital work environment.

Wears appropriate apparel for the position and displays nametag upon such apparel.
Regular and predictable work attendance.
Positions patient in appropriate position in relationship to equipment used, adjusts immobilization devices and affixes lead plates or aprons to protect unaffected areas.
Prepares and administers drugs or chemical mixtures orally as enemas, or IV, if trained, to render organs opaque.
Adjust KV & MAS regulating length and intensity of exposure.
Assists with patient scheduling and understanding preparations for each exam.
Takes verbal and written orders from physicians or their designee.
Assists in training of new employees.
Assesses the patient’s condition.
Assures required consent forms are signed prior to examinations.
Performs clerical duties including filling, charges, audits, etc.
Transports patients.
Cleans and maintains rooms and equipment including cassettes as needed.
Copies outgoing films as needed.
Rotates shifts and participates in the “on-call” schedule regularly as assigned (20-minute response time).
Actively participates in quality assurance monitoring and recording efforts of the department.
Direct exposure related to handling radiographic processing materials.
Prepares reports and maintains records of service rendered.
Makes minor adjustments to equipment.
Makes patient feel comfortable and at ease during procedure.
May assist in therapy requiring application of radium or radioactive isotopes.
Performs with minimal supervision the technical work in the various phases of radiologic technology as assigned, including general radiology, fluoroscopic, portable, surgical, emergency, ultrasound, CT, C-ARM, teleradiography and dark room duties, also assist with mammography, nuclear medicine, and MRI, and film copier.
Assists Radiologist as needed
Participates in meetings, committees, continuing education, and special projects as designated.
Attend meetings and in-services as required
Other duties as assigned.
