Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Operating Room Registered Nurse to provide high-quality perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The OR RN will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical staff to maintain a safe, sterile environment and ensure optimal patient outcomes throughout the surgical process.
Responsibilities:
• Assess patients preoperatively and verify surgical consent, site, and procedure
• Prepare operating rooms by ensuring appropriate equipment, instruments, and supplies are available
• Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection prevention and surgical safety standards
• Act as patient advocate throughout the perioperative process
• Monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes during procedures
• Assist surgeons and anesthesia providers during surgical procedures as needed
• Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps according to protocol
• Document perioperative care accurately and in a timely manner
• Support post-anesthesia transfer and provide handoff communication to recovery staff
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure efficient workflow and patient safety
Qualifications:
• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
• Experience in operating room or perioperative nursing preferred
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile technique, and perioperative protocols
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred based on facility requirements
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and professional nursing practice
Pay Rate
$71.90 - $76.78/hour
