GENERAL SUMMARY:
Transports mobile medical imaging equipment to client sites along the mobile route and maintains equipment according to specifications. Working closely with all members of the Imaging team, he/she is responsible for providing a clean and safe environment as well as functioning as a receptionist, transporter, positioning aide, and runner for supplies. This individual assists in maintaining a clean and safe environment by performing room cleaning and set up tasks, cleaning the department traffic areas, stocking supplies and performing end of the day cleaning tasks.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Patient Experience
• Identifies opportunities to improve patient experience. Participates in projects/programs designed to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction.
Patient/Staff/Environmental Safety
• Identifies opportunities to improve the Environment of Care, and patient and staff safety. Participates in projects and programs designed to create a safe environment to avoid error.
Job Specific Duties
• Relocates mobile medical imaging vehicle and equipment to various sites along the mobile route in accordance with applicable DOT rules and regulations and Aspirus Wausau Hospital (AWH) standard operating procedures.
• At each location, sets up and tears down equipment in accordance with AWH and/or manufacturer guidelines.
• Completes necessary administrative tasks, e.g. billing, driver’s logs, and any applicable maintenance, mileage or inspection forms.
• Assists with scheduling maintenance for the truck and maintaining the chase car.
• Follows preventative maintenance guidelines and ensures proper maintenance of all equipment. Works with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical failures.
Patient Care
• Greets patients with courtesy and respect; introduces self and puts patients at ease.
• Escorts patients to and from the mobile unit. Maintains patient care, comfort, dignity and safety during transit to and from the mobile unit.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Lifts and assists with positioning of patient when needed.
• Operates mechanical lift for wheelchair or mobility impaired patients.
• Starts computers, mammography and body density units.
• Ensures adequate beginning of day temperature of mammography unit.
• Performs daily bone density QC.
• Enters patient demographics into bone density unit.
• Contributes to patient satisfaction.
• Assists Technologist with completion of Patient Screening form when needed.
• Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the mobile unit.
• Cooperates with facility healthcare personnel and complies with facility policies and procedures.
• Stocks and orders linens.
• Complies with all safety policies and regulations.
• Performs additional duties as assigned or requested.
Clerical Duties
• Answers phone calls.
• Checks daily schedule for accuracy.
• Order entry patient paperwork.
• Registers patients utilizing downtime protocol.
• Updates Aspirus Wausau Hospital staff regarding changes to daily schedule, fax releases and technologist notes.
• Provides accurate and timely communication.
• Communicates with Wausau Hospital file room for correlating studies.
• Retrieves prior bone density studies.
• Hand delivers bone density exams to x-ray technologist to send to provider.
• Picks up bone density requisition that the technologist printed and gives to technologist before she does her exam.
• Organizes and prioritizes paperwork.
• Prints daily schedule for technologists
Technical
• Enters work tickets for maintenance of interior of unit.
• Assists in ordering supplies.
• Restocks and supplies procedure rooms with necessary items as needed.
Department Specific Accountabilities
• Maintains department specific accountabilities as determined, maintained, and housed within each unit’s Scope of Service.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Education
• Knowledge of patient care standards and practices normally acquired through completion of a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology not necessary but preferred to perform duties.
Experience
• Previous clinical medical work experience beneficial.
Required
• Current BLS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire - All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training through independent study, online manikin and knowledge testing. An acceptable training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the client Professional Rescuer Program with AED. Driver’s License Required
• Possesses a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License and Class B CDL License.
Additional compliance is also required:
DOT (Department of Transportation) Physical and DOT drug screen are separate requirements that are part of a federally regulated program. Occupational Health clinic throughout the country should be able to perform these.
Specifically, the DOT physical exam is required to obtain the CDL (commercial driver’s license) that is the 2nd bullet point.
• Must pass DOT physical and drug/alcohol screening.
