LPN – Correctional Nurse (Job Description)

A Correctional Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides essential nursing care to incarcerated individuals in jails, prisons, or detention centers. This role focuses on maintaining inmate health and safety while working within a secure, structured correctional environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provides nursing care to incarcerated individuals in a secure correctional setting
Performs health screenings, vital signs, and routine medical care
Administers medications, including controlled substances, per facility protocols
Responds to medical emergencies and assists RNs and providers
Documents care accurately in the EMR system
Provides wound care, injections, specimen collection, and basic procedures

Qualifications

Active LPN license in good standing
BLS/CPR certification
Experience in corrections, behavioral health, or acute care preferred
Ability to work in a secure, fast-paced environment
Strong communication, assessment, and critical-thinking skills

Facility Note

This position is located inside a prison facility.

Smart watches are not permitted
Cell phones are not allowed inside the secure perimeter
Loved ones may contact you by phone at your workstation
This role requires working every other weekend

Pay Rate
$37.48 - $42.36/hour
