Our client, a fast-growing e-commerce beauty brand focused on clean, high-performance skincare and cosmetics, is seeking a Cosmetic Chemist to drive product formulation and development. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the next generation of beauty products.
Position Summary:
The Cosmetic Chemist will develop, test, and refine skincare and cosmetic formulations from concept through production. This role involves hands-on lab work, regulatory compliance, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, clean, and effective products for market launch.
Key Responsibilities:
• Formulate and develop skincare and cosmetic products (serums, creams, cleansers, balms).
• Conduct stability and compatibility testing.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, INCI labeling, EU standards, and Prop 65 regulations.
• Research new ingredients and industry trends for innovation.
• Maintain accurate records, including formulation data, SDS, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with marketing, branding, and supply chain teams from concept to production.
• Coordinate with third-party labs and manufacturers as needed.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 2 years of hands-on cosmetic formulation experience.
• Strong knowledge of emulsions, raw materials, preservatives, and clean beauty standards.
• Understanding of FDA/OTC compliance, product safety, and labeling laws.
• Familiarity with lab equipment and formulation processes.
• Strong communication and adaptability in a startup environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a related field.
• Experience with DTC/e-commerce beauty brands.
• Knowledge of sustainable and eco-friendly ingredients.
• GMP or contract manufacturing experience.
Schedule & Work Hours:
• Monday to Friday
• 8-hour shifts
• 40 guaranteed hours per week
