Job Summary

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. The COTA provides hands-on therapeutic interventions and supports patients in achieving greater independence and functional ability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the Occupational Therapist

  • Provide therapeutic activities to improve patients’ functional abilities, mobility, and coordination

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and adaptive techniques

  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, use of adaptive equipment, and safety strategies

  • Monitor patient progress and report outcomes and concerns to the supervising OT

  • Document treatment sessions and patient responses accurately in medical records

  • Assist with patient evaluations and re-evaluations as directed by the OT

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized treatment environment

  • Adhere to clinical standards, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to support patient goals

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program

  • Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification

  • Active state licensure in good standing (if required)

  • Current CPR/BLS certification

  • Ability to meet background, health, and physical requirements

Pay Rate
$37.48 - $42.36/hour
