Job Title: Registered Nurse – Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatric Unit

Shift: 12-hour shifts (Days/Nights). Must be flexible to work both day and night shifts, including weekends and holidays as assigned.
Position Type: Normal Urgency

Certifications:

  • Required: American Heart Association BLS, and one of the following: TCI, CPI, MANDT, or TEAM

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatric Unit. The RN will provide high-quality, trauma-informed care to adolescent patients experiencing behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric challenges. This role requires strong critical-thinking skills, calm crisis-management abilities, and a deep commitment to patient safety and therapeutic communication.

General Job Duties & Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Provide direct nursing care to adolescent patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting.

  • Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and document clinical findings accurately.

  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and treatment goals.

  • Administer medications safely and monitor for side effects or behavioral changes.

  • Support patients through crisis episodes using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques.

Crisis Intervention & Safety

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment on the unit.

  • Respond quickly and appropriately to psychiatric emergencies and high-risk behaviors.

  • Participate in safety huddles, code responses, and incident documentation.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare staff to coordinate patient care.

  • Communicate effectively with patients and families using age-appropriate, trauma-informed approaches.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, treatment planning, and care conferences.

  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers of adolescent patients.

  • Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatments, and coping strategies.

  • Support a positive unit culture focused on respect, safety, and therapeutic engagement.

  • Flexibility to work during holidays, weekends, and rotating shifts based on unit needs.

Pay Rate
$65.20 - $68.40/hour
